We invite you to an afternoon of lectures, a woodworking demonstration, and guided discussion focused on 18th-century Newport, Rhode Island furniture made in the workshops of the celebrated Goddard and Townsend families of cabinetmakers and allied craftsmen. Examples of Newport furniture from the Winterthur collection will serve as the subjects for close looking and learning as we explore materials, techniques, and points of connoisseurship.
