A closed-front sacque back gown (c. 1775-1785), was transformed into upholstery on a period settee (c. 1760-1775) in the early 20th century, but the bodice was retained for repairs and later accessioned into Winterthur's collection. Learn how close observation, patterning, digital manipulation, and collection research enabled creation of a full-scale reproduction of the sacque back and a remarkable understanding of the how the settee was created from the original.
