Heirloom Narratives: Writing the Stories of Stuff

Description

Are you the keeper of family collections and stories? Do you aspire to record why particular objects are significant to you, your family, and ancestors? In this fun and meaningful workshop, use a simple book-binding technique to create a journal and then learn some tools to write the story or document the memory associated with a cherished family object.

Your writing might arrive in the form of a short story, a poem, or an essay. You may savor the writing for yourself or share with workshop participants. Please bring with you only one important object from your collection. Your object should be easy to carry and could represent a new or old family legacy. This program is open to teens, adults, and seniors.

This Mastercraft workshop includes a discussion of tips for protecting and preserving your cherished object during storage and display.
